Independent Journalism in Dallas Needs You
We need to raise $12,500 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Tuesday, May 5, marks an important holiday, and we’re not just talking about the commemoration of the Battle of Puebla. That date is also Teacher Appreciation Day. These tireless men and women are shaping the lives of our children, molding the very minds of generation after generation of future leaders–you know, guys like Perry, Cheney, Rove…Despite this, we should still thank them, Dallas/Fort Worth area Chik-fil-A restaurants will give three chicken strips to each educator who shows valid ID from 10:30 a.m. to closing time. Fries and drink not included–but teachers are used to that kind of effort. Must present valid identification. Limit one per person. Participation may vary.
Of course, given that the day of honor falls on Cinco De Drinko, one could probably think of another gift teachers would appreciate even more than three chicken strips. Hint: it starts with “T” and ends with “equila.”
Ah, well. The gesture is a nice one. Anyone on a teacher’s salary needs all the freebies they can get.
