A giggle this afternoon, courtesy the Andover Townsman, which details Andover/North Andover YMCA’s 13th Annual Dallas Night held on August 27. Biggest turnout ever — “Texas-sized,” as the paper puts it, which adds up to some 475 folks in attendance, hot damn. And how, precisely, do the Massachusettsians do up a “Dallas” night?

Families dined on grilled chicken, burgers, hot dogs, beans, cornbread, corn on the cob and other barbecue favorites. … Children kept busy with Western-themed games and activities. Kids moseyed through an Old West village complete with a bank, saloon and other buildings that volunteers made from cardboard boxes. Water-balloon volleyball was also a favorite.

Oh, and there was also a cowgirl and cowboy parade; or, as we call it ’round these here parts, Tuesday. We’re going to spend the rest of the day planning our First Annual Andover Night, as a thank-you. Something involving Jay Leno, Michael Chiklis and the burning of witches. –Robert Wilonsky
