Guadalupe River: Cold.

Hootie & The Blowfish: Eh.

As for sports, I’m playing catch-up today. The thing that has first struck me is that the Mavs nabbed a nice player with the 51st overall pick last week.

I heard ESPN’s Jay Bilas said Vanderbilt’s Shan Foster has limited range, but I watched several Vandy games last season and the dude can stroke it from 3-point range no problem. Defense and putting the ball on the floor to create his own shot are weaknesses, but if the Mavs have needed anything the last few years it’s been a consistent spot-up shooter.

And, when in doubt, it’s never a bad idea to take a chance on the Southeastern Conference’s Player of the Year.

Foster may not be a great player, but at 51 he is a great pick. And if he breaks his toe entering the AAC for the first time and never plays a minute, he’ll still be a better selection than last year’s waste. — Richie Whitt
