Independent Journalism in Dallas Needs You
We need to raise $12,500 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
I’ve been rough on the Mavs’ J.J. Barea.
For being no taller than me. For looking like the runner-up in the Minyard ball boy contest.
And for being the miniature version of Shawn Bradley. As in, you can’t take any team seriously that gives him quality minutes.
But lookie here, the little fella just made a big impact.
I’ll be damned if he didn’t play a scrappy, productive game against the Lakers Friday night. And then last night, in a game the Mavs trailed the crappy Clippers by 15 in the fourth quarter before rallying for a dramatic win, J.J. calmly, purposefully sank the game-winning 3-pointer in the final minute.
I fear it’s the guys’ 15 minutes of fame. But, hey, props to him. And his web site. Muy bueno. – Richie Whitt
