Vickery Park likes to keep it in the family — well, as they more conservatively put it, “Keep It Local for Labor Day” — and this long weekend, the Henderson Avenue beer-and-brunchery, helmed by the tattooed teddy bear Matt Tobin, is focusing (almost) exclusively on Dallas-made brews.
The aptly named Velvet Hammer is back; Peticolas’ Imperial Red Ale boasts 9 percent ABV that has been known to wallop a beer snob or two. Deep Ellum IPA also makes its return, and Lakewood Brewing Company’s Hop Trapp, a Belgian Style IPA, debuts at Vickery, weighing in at 6.4 percent ABV.
Friday means a special tapping of Vickery’s last Brooklyn Summer Ale keg; it’s the one taste hipsters and hipster-hatas can agree on. Saturday through Monday offers $2 hotdogs (excluding brunch hours). On Monday, Vickery rounds out the three-day weekend, opening early at 2 p.m. More details here.
