As you can see above, the two lanes are broad and straight, perfect for cars to pick up speed, with only a narrow shoulder that disappears to basically nothing at intersections and bridges.

It was there, Arlington Police say, that a woman in her 40s or 50s was riding this afternoon when she weaved into the road and was struck by a pickup in the 5900 block of Pioneer Parkway. According to the department, she was taken to Medical Center of Arlington, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the pickup stopped to help. There was no indication he was impaired.
