Here is the Texas Education Agency’s July 31 letter to the Dallas Independent School District, informing superintendent Michael Hinojosa and school board president Jack Lowe that the district now has a babysitter looking over its slumped shoulders. The letter, which district officials have kept hidden, warns the DISD that if it doesn’t get its academically unacceptable campuses up to snuff, the state commissioner of education “may order alternative management of the campus by another school district” or the closing of W.W. Samuell and H. Grady Spruce High Schools and E.B. Comstock Middle School altogether.
