What Do George W. Bush, Elvis Costello and George Costanza Have in Common?

No, seriously. Costello’s up first, with a $125-to-$225-per-ticket May 24 Wind Foundation fund-raiser at the House of Blues — four nights before he kicks off a two-day stint with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. At last, Dallas gets its own Elvis Costello Week.

Then, the next morning, it’s straight into Bush’s part of the program: According to GreenLiving, the former president is collecting ’round $100,000 to speak during the event’s general session, a hometown discount of $50,000. (The program says he’ll speak for 90 minutes during a chitchat titled “Wind Energy — Powering America Forward.”) Later that night, Jason Alexander’s been hired to entertain convention-goers during the dinner show at the Hyatt Regency: He’ll be donning a toupee to perform as “Motivational Expert Donny Clay.” To which I can only respond: We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like “I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive …”
