Amber Vinson, the second nurse from Thomas Eric Duncan’s treatment team to contract the Ebola virus, had her engagement ring incinerated along with many of her other belongings.

In an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon, Vinson revealed her struggles to figure out how she got the disease despite following the protocols given to her by Texas Health Presbyterian, and she disputed previous claims by CDC director Tom Frieden that her taking a flight from Cleveland to Dallas with a low-grade fever was reckless.

A few things to note here: 1. Was the CDC out of bleach or something? Hell, even leaving the ring out at room temperature for a couple of days would have rendered it Ebola free. 2. Amber Vinson — maybe because she doesn’t own a cute dog like Bentley — is really losing the public sympathy race to Nina Pham. A fund established to pay for her care and expenses has only raised $21,000. Pham’s fund on the same site has raised almost $90,000.
