So, now we know what’ll become of the contentious former Carnival at 1800 N. Henderson Avenue: It’s going to be a grocery store again. Months after brothers Marc and Roger Andres withdrew their zoning request that would have transformed the site from an abandoned grocery to a multi-use residential-retail development, they’re leasing the property to Colorado-based Sunflower Farmers Market, which markets its crunchy edibles with the slogan “Serious Food … Silly Prices.” According to its Web site, the Henderson Ave. location’s scheduled to open in 2009; notes the Dallas Business Journal this a.m., should be in the first quarter. Plano and Austin locations are in the works as well. Whole Foods, I think they’re looking at you. Still, no Trader Joe’s? Dang. –Robert Wilonsky
