GlobeSt.com has the lowdown on the $60-million expansion at Arlington Highlands, the megamall at I-20 and Matlock Road full of “lifestyle retailers“; there’s a new hotel on the way, along with anchor tenants including a 33,000-square-foot Dave & Buster’s. But buried in the piece about the mall — which, says GlobeSt.com, is doing remarkably well despite being near The Parks at Arlington — is the news that Arlington and, most likely, Dallas and Fort Worth are getting a new bowling alley:
Arlington Highlands East is expected to be the first Texas opening for the Splitsville chain, which also is negotiating for an anchor spot in Cypress Equities’ West 7th, a mixed-use redevelopment in Fort Worth’s Cultural District; Park Lane Place, Dallas-based Harvest Partners’ $100-million-plus project near NorthPark Mall in Dallas; and Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group’s Domain in North Austin. The Retail Connection is handling Splitsville’s site search and contract talks. Splitsville’s typical location features 12 bowling lanes, six billiards tables, full-service dinner lounge and several bars.
Splitsville’s based out of Tampa, incidentally, and apparently, home to the world’s largest bowling pin. –Robert Wilonsky
