In what I consider one of my top five events of the year thus far (don’t worry, birth of my son, you’re safe), The Walkmen have added additional tour dates to their calendar, including a performance in Dallas. The Granada Theater locked the band down on Wednesday, September 19. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow for $22 at the Granada Theater’s website.

The band, whose newest album Heaven came out last Tuesday via Fat
Possum, has been one of my favorites since seeing them in 2004 at the
Gypsy Tea Room. The crowd was sparse — about 30 others were in
attendance — and the band tore through a 40-minute set of pure
out-of-tune garage rock. Lead singer Hamilton Leithauser stood at front
lip of the stage, singing with such power he was actually screaming.

Nowadays,
he croons more, and the music has broadened as the band has aged. Their
live show hasn’t suffered, though. If anything, they’re in their prime.
