On May 23, workers at the Mott’s plant in Williamson, New York, went on strike — the company’s owner, Plano-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group, is demanding workers take a $1.50-an-hour pay cut and a reduction in benefits. Say union reps, “With unemployment rates high in the Williamson area, Mott’s continues to insist on draconian cuts, telling its highly productive and loyal workers that they should think of themselves as a ‘commodity’ like ‘soybeans or oil.'” You probably didn’t know about this strike. The United Food and Commercial Workers Union sends word that it has protests planned in Dallas, Arlington and Garland beginning today at 4 p.m. at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Gus Thomason Road and the Tom Thumb on N. Collins in Arlington. The press release has the full schedule, but heads-up, Central Market shoppers: They’ll be at the Lovers Lane location Thursday.
