If you have time for a quick trip ’round the world this morning, check out the home page of World Villages of Grapevine — home of the alleged $70-million indoor ski jump announced yesterday. (I say “alleged” only because, well, back in ’06, you may recall, we were promised a CoolZone Metroplex that melted somewhere between then and now. So no promises.) The Alpine Village being proposed out near State Highway 121 and Grapevine Mills Parkway is but a tip of the, um, iceberg.
As the nice lady with the amazing accent says in the overview, the 162-acre World Villages is supposed to one hellacious cultural mash-up — part Europe, part Cuba, part Asia and part theme park located at the “intersection of entertainment, art and nature.” Which are the exact directions I give newcomers heading out to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
