In just a few weeks, Dallas bridge enthusiasts will be graced by a performance from The Relatives, a classic Dallas soul group that seems to prefer Austin’s audiences to that of their hometown.
But they’re not the only ’60s/’70s Dallas soul band whose name has resurfaced recently. Just last year we reported that The Festivals’ “You’ve Got The Makings of a Lover” was covered by Mayer Hawthorne, who announced this week that he’ll perform at the Palladium Ballroom on Friday, April 27.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m. at AXS.com.
In other old-school R&B/soul show announcement news — and with a nod to Audra’s favorite Dallas radio station — Mint Condition will be at House of Blues on Thursday, April 5. The year was 1991, and the 11-year-old version of me had no idea what unrequited love was but, damn, “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)” was sad for some reason.
Tickets for this show will go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. at Live Nation.
