Austin City Limits is still over two months off, but you’d never know that based on the ACL Fest-based Myspace pleas flying around the Web these days.
At least four local acts by my count–did I miss any?–have been shooting out Myspace spam, angling for fans to vote for them in ACL’s “The Sound and The Jury” competition, in which largely unknown acts can find their way on ACL’s bill.
Here’s how the local participants are doing so far:
– Odis — 20th place (212 votes)
– Black Tie Dynasty — 26th place (172 votes)
– Whiskey Folk Ramblers — 85th place (23 votes)
– Smile Smile — somewhere south of 100th place… (14 votes)
We’ll be maintaining journalistic integrity here, going the objective route and abstaining from voting in the process. But as for you? Well, for you, I say go for it. —Pete Freedman
