Earlier this month, Alexa was in West Dallas for the tearing-down of several problematic properties courtesy nonprofits promising safe, affordable housing in coming months. Among those in attendance was Mayor Tom Leppert, who said, “We are very interested in rebuilding and revitalizing [West Dallas]. This investment is going to spur more.”

It’s a part of town in which Leppert has a deep interest: He’s chairman of the board of directors of the West Dallas Community School on Canada Drive, and yesterday morning at Dallas City Hall, the mayor formally introduced the West Dallas Education Task Force, the goal of which is to “establish a multi-faceted network of public and private schools offering excellent educational options to West Dallas families,” including L.G. Pinkston High School, pictured above. A video of the mayor’s remarks follows after the jump.
