I called Dallas Independent School District spokesman Jon Dahlander early this morning to see if that lone, anonymous teacher’s call for a leap day of protest went answered by his peers. No, says Dahlander in a statement just dispatched from 3700 Ross. Not at all:
The percentage of Dallas ISD teachers who called in sick or who took a personal day today is 13% less than our regular average.
The Dallas Independent School District honor ours teachers for their continued dedication to Dallas students every single day.
There’s a reason why the number of Dallas ISD graduates reached its highest number this past year since 1983: teachers.
There’s a reason why the dropout rate has been cut in half during the last three years: teachers.
There’s a reason why the number of Dallas ISD students scoring at college-ready levels has climbed each of the last 5 years: teachers.
