March was a big month for the Tyler-based family band of Eisley, what with the release of The Valley, their third full-length and first-ever independent release, and all. April was kind of a big month, too, what with the band embarking on a tour in support of the album and, at the start of the month, filming the new disc’s first music video.
Following suit, May looks to be a solid month for the band as well: This morning, the band’s first official music video from The Valley, for lead single “Smarter,” made its debut on MTVu. Tweeted the head of the DuPree household, father Boyd DuPree, about the shoot back in early April: It was “fun” and “hard work,” and “aesthetically awesome.” High praise perhaps, but there’s more — like the fact that Boyd said that the video — right after its wrap, no less — had a chance to be the “best” out of their five released to date.
Simple smoke-blowing? Perhaps. But the clip, directed by New York-based photographer Chris Phelps, who also directed a Sarah Jaffe clip that was released back in February, is a good-looking effort, for sure — even if it meant that Sherri DuPree-Bemis, who takes the vocal lead on this track (which boasts quite the earworm of a hook), had to endure some not-so-pleasant circumstances during its filming.
Tweeted Boyd of the five-hour shoot in the woods: Sherri was “a rock star for being so patient out there [] bugs, ticks, ‘skiterz’.” See how by watching the clip after the jump.
