Independent Journalism in Dallas Needs You
We need to raise $12,500 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Well this is perfect timing. Just as we all prepare for season’s eatings, Dunkin Donuts has announced a pilot for their doughnut delivery service right here in Dallas. From 7 a.m.-10 p.m. you can have all the doughnuts you want shuttled to your door via a partnership with food delivery service Door Dash.
It’s genius, really. Attendance at hastily called office meetings is about to increase significantly now that we need never fear there won’t be enough deep-fried pastries around to make it worthwhile. And any office worker who’s been unwittingly sucked into a doughnutless meeting can quickly rectify the situation with a smart phone app while pretending to check their email.
What’s worse is the fact that there is no minimum order. Imagine it: At any second that you decide the delivery fee is worth it you could have a single munchkin delivered to your door. Coffee, breakfast sandwiches and the rest of the menu is available, too.
In the next few weeks “Dunkin’ Delivery” will be expanding to Washington DC, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles. Doughnut consumption is without a doubt about to take a massive jump, and coming New Year’s resolutions will undoubtedly involve frosting and sprinkles. I mean, for the love of God, don’t give up the doughnuts altogether, just the cartoonish sweet ones.
