Allison V. Smith, duh
The late Stanley Marcus may have Reflections of a Man to showcase his lifetime of photographs, but his grandaughter, Allison V. Smith, isn’t waiting for her bio-compendium to get a published collection out there. And thank goodness for us art lovers: Her use of color is astounding, and her ability to capture a realistic, emotive moment is pretty damn magical.
Though Smith –co-editor of Reflections and sometimes photog for Unfair Park’s paper version — is published in many a magazine, having shot many a famous person, Smith uses her Superficial Snapshots ‘zine series to release limited-edition issues full of her own favorites. Issue 2, “An Issue With Lomos,” became available for purchase just yesterday, and copies are already flying off the…um, PayPal-mediated cybershelves. The edition features shots Smith has described on her blog as “travel snapshots” and “sketches.”
Yeah, that’s right. We said a “limited-edition” 250 at $22.50, plus shipping. Signed. Go. Now. And, no, we’re not working on a commission. –Merritt Martin
