See, on occasion it pays to get out of the office. As in, some of us were dining this afternoon at the Taco Diner in the West Village — enh — when, on the way back, Merritt Martin’s back-seat passenger snapped this pic of the fire at the Bibbentuckers at 3501 McKinney Avenue. At least, Merritt says, sure looked like it was at Bibbentuckers: “They were going in through Bibbentuckers, and it stank of chemicals.” Damn it, I am never getting that shirt back now. –Robert Wilonsky
