But we just came across this video, in which Big Al Dupree schools us on Deep Ellum in its heyday(s).
According to the description, the vid was created 16 years ago–well before the entire hullabaloo going on now (but perhaps the beginning of it).
One woman says she misses the old days, and complains how “things have changed…before Russell found God…from a very low-budget tight group of people…to basically yuppie infiltration.” The entire quote is pretty great and I wonder if she had any idea how prophetic her statement was at the time… –Rich Lopez
