The NBA’s love affair with hip-hop is nothing new. And, really, neither is seeing NBA stars do hip-hop dances–or, even more specifically, Dallas-born dances. At the 2009 NBA All-Star Game in Phoenix, NBA stars LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Shaquille O’Neal and Nate Robinson all flashed either the Dougie or the Stanky Legg while on camera. That same year, the Portland Trailblazers hazed their rookies by making them Stanky Legg for fans.
These days, though, the rooks are doing it by choice. At a NBA rookie gathering this week, former University of Kentucky teammates DeMarcus Cousins and John Wall showed off their Dougie-ing skills for their fellow first-year players. And, hell, they’re both pretty good at it, too.
Let’s just hope for the sake of Washington Wizards and Sacramento Kings fans that these guys don’t decide to try doing these dances in the street.
