Leading up to September’s Best of Dallas® 2016 issue, we’re sharing (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes, the Dallas entrées, appetizers and desserts that really stuck with us this year.

There are a lot of restaurants in Bishop Arts, and the buzz-worthy spots often have lines out the door on weekends. But there are a couple mom-and-pop spots in the neighborhood that offer a quiet break from the crowds while also serving some of the neighborhood’s best food.

Bocce is one of those spots. The sweet little family-run Italian eatery has a welcoming vibe with red checkered table cloths, walls covered in family photos and a beautiful BYOB policy. Their pasta dishes, made from fresh house-made pasta, are filling and comforting in a way that makes them every dish feel like Sunday supper.

One of Bocce’s greatest yet simplest dishes: the baked chicken tetrazzini, made with plump, fresh noodles, grilled chicken, alfredo sauce, peas and mushrooms. A layer of melted cheese on top gives the dish an added dose of richness, with fresh peas and mushrooms swimming in a creamy sauce. Food like this is perfect for take-out on a quiet afternoon when you find yourself needing a little respite from the world.
