Leading up to September’s Best of Dallas® 2016 issue, we’re sharing (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes, the Dallas entrées, appetizers and desserts that really stuck with us this year.
Company Cafe has catered to resource-conscious, health-minded day-drinkers since it opened in 2011, and you’ll do well to pair your a.m. Champagne with the Deep Bowl. Cubed sweet potatoes step in for standard potatoes O’Brien and are mixed with your favored flavor of red meat (pick the bison). It’s topped with an avocado half and eggs served your way. Empty the side order of salsa over the whole dish, stir it all together and take a lovin’ spoonful of deconstructed paleo omelette. The salsa lends just enough kick to set off the eggs from the sweet starchy potatoes, which in turn get an assist from the cool avocado. The meat is just the icing on the cake.
Despite being delicious, the Deep Bowl makes for a pretty balanced breakfast. Each ingredient is as natural and local as possible, and the recipe has the ideal fat-to-carb ratio to keep you going through at least late afternoon. Hell, if you can keep an eye on your mimosa intake, you could have the most productive post-brunch ever.
