It was just two Saturdays ago that Dallas’ alternative rock crew The Buck Pets reunited for a release show at Trees to release their rarities album, RARES (and unreleased).
The reunion was a long time coming, since it had been 15 years since the band released the rushed and disappointing album tothequick and split up soon after.
By Wilonsky’s account, the break-up messed up lead guitarist Chris Savage something bad, and drummer Tony Alba dropped off the face of the Earth.

The April 25, 1993 edition of the Observer saw Alex Magocsi covering The Buck Pets after Island records dropped them. The band was touring with Neil Young at the time, and singer/guitarist Andy Thompson was fairly confident that they would get another deal soon.
In hindsight, that was a bit optimistic.
But, perhaps, fair. The drop came as a surprise to the band, especially after their sophomore album Mercurotones was a moderate success and their single “Libertine” off that album was still getting airplay at the time.
