$10,000

Well, Super Bowl weekend is just getting busier and busier — although, in this case, a recently announced, very cool event just seems to be the beneficiary of convenient scheduling.

Starting on Thursday, February 3, and running through Saturday, February 5, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will be performing a new percussion concerto written by seminal Police drummer and accomplished film score composer Stewart Copeland. The piece, called Gamelan D’Drum, was written specifically for the DSO, and the drummer/composer will indeed be present at the debut.

Expect more coverage of this event in print edition of DC9 in the weeks running up to the concerto’s debut. In the meantime, Robert has but a few more details over on Unfair Park. And, after the jump, we’ve got the DSO’s pretty awesome promotional material for the performance, right here.
