This morning, our parent company, Village Voice Media formally announced the 2011 lineup for our annual SXSW party, which this year will take place on Thursday, March 17, from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Austin Music Hall.
The all-ages affair, co-sponsored by Frank 151, will feature performances from Wu-Tang Clan, Fishbone, Yelawolf, Trae Tha Truth, Marz Lovejoy, Rocky Business, Trouble Andrew, Wild Flag and Ume. It will also feature a DJ set from Erykah Badu, aka DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown.
The event, we think, compares quite well to last year’s offering, which hosted performances from Superchunk, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Surfer Blood and the xx. Maybe even tops it, too. You already know how we feel about the Wu and Badu, as well as Ume (which is playing our St. Patrick’s Day concert) and Wild Flag (which is playing the post-SXSW bash, Bro Fest).
