To honor the memory of late singer Liam Payne, Club 90s is hosting a string of 1D Night benefit shows across the country, including a Dallas show at Trees on Friday, Nov. 15.

All proceeds from the shows will be donated to the SAFE Project, a charity dedicated to finding “solutions to mental health challenges, substance misuse and the addiction epidemic in the United States,” as well as treatment centers such as the Van Ness Recovery House in Los Angeles, according to a press release.

Payne died on Oct. 16 after falling from his third-floor hotel room in Argentina. Three people have been charged following the singer’s death – one with abandonment of a person followed by death and two with supplying Payne with drugs. The investigation is ongoing, but so far suicide has been ruled out as a cause of death.

The 31-year-old became a pop star at 16 when One Direction was formed on The X-Factor, a music-based competition show. He released five albums with One Direction; the first four debuted at No. 1, and the final album, Made In The A.M., at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Payne continued a solo career after the group disbanded in 2016. His debut single, “Strip That Down” featuring Quavo, hit No. 10 in the U.S., and his EP, First Time, and album, LP1, had success in the United Kingdom.

Payne’s former bandmates have all posted photos and statements paying respect to their late friend. Harry Styles recalled that Panye’s “greatest joy was making other people happy,” and said that, “It was an honour to be alongside him as he did it.” Louis Tomlinson expressed his devastation at the sudden loss and shared that Payne was “the most vital part of One Direction.” Zayn Malik pushed the U.S. leg of his The Stairway to the Sky Tour to 2025 in response to the tragedy.

“I lost a brother when you left us,” Malik said on Instagram. “I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever.”

Even Simon Cowell, infamous for his aloofness, wrote, “You never really know how you feel about someone until a moment like this happens.” Cowell, a judge on X-Factor, was instrumental in the creation of One Direction and its members’ journeys as musicians.

Dozens of Dallas fans gathered the week of Payne’s death to hold a memorial at Boy Scout Hill. “I was amazed at the amount of people who actually came,” attendee Monse Feria told us on Oct. 21. “The memorial grew bigger and bigger throughout the night, and suddenly I was surrounded by people who understood and felt what I had been feeling.”

The first “A Night For Liam” event was held at The Regent in Downtown Los Angeles and quickly sold out. Fans flooded the comments asking about extra tickets or requesting a benefit night in their own town. To address the demand and further spread the goodwill in Payne’s name, Club 90s announced eight more shows in cities around the U.S. such as Las Vegas, New York City and Denver.

Club 90s specializes in themed events that celebrate the decade through dance parties. No artists are performing at the event. A listing for the LA event honoring Payne reads: “This is a club night and no special performances/appearances from artists or One Direction members will be taking place.”

A Night For Liam is 18 and up. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the concert starts at 10 p.m. at Trees Dallas, 2709 Elm St. Tickets are $15.
