The first weekend of October has plenty of festivals to choose from. One we’re recommending is the inaugural Tacos and Beats in Little Elm on Oct. 4. The line-up is hip-hop meets R&B, with Rick Ross, Keyshia Cole, Fat Joe, Jeremih and Tejano Queen Forever, a Selena tribute band. DJ sets are by DJ She Real and DJ Sean Mac. Co-hosts are J Kruz, Claudia Jordan, Devin Wilmott Johnson, Spaceboifresh, Taylor Morgan and Coach O.
Tacos and Beats will feature local vendors and food trucks, so come hungry.
“Little Elm Beach isn’t just a venue—it’s a destination,” said founder Lucas Payne in a press release. “Were looking to create something special that’s both innovative and inclusive.”
Other highlights of Tacos and Beats include a lucha libre wrestling tournament, a vintage car show, and a closing fireworks show. Doors open at 2 p.m., and the festival continues until 10 p.m. Tickets are still available on tacosandbeats.com.

We’re assuming you already know songs by the main attractions of the lineup. If you need a quick primer, Ross is the biggest bawse that we’ve seen thus far, known for songs like “Hustlin’” and “Aston Martin Music.” Cole was in Texas over the summer for her 20th anniversary tour for The Way It Is, which means she’ll have us singing “Last Night” all over again. Fat Joe performing “All the Way Up” will be incredible and Jeremih’s “Oui” is what we’re anticipating he’ll perform because Late Nights is a classic. If you know, you know.
In this Tacos and Beats 2025 playlist, we’re spotlighting the local artists and other rising names who will be hitting both the main and beach stages. This is a sampler of their songs, featuring R&B group 2BYG, whose debut project, The Yearbook, is due out Oct. 3. Others include our Dallas hip-hop scene represented in Cure for Paranoia, Pierce Washington, Jayson Lyric and Scuttino, who won Best of Dallas this year for Best Male Rapper. And then there’s some Alex Irish and The Blue Line because they’re amazing.
