Over the last few years, a number of Dallas-based artists have been making trips to Corsicana, a town about 55 miles south of downtown. Helmed by Southern Methodist University alum, Kyle Hobratschk, the project has been to transform a three-story historic building into a residency space for artists and writers. Complete with easels, work tables, seating and beds, it’s a small organization, an artist retreat run by artists. And just last week they finished the space and announced their first call for applications.
They’re offering two fully funded six week residencies, one for an artist and one for a writer, as well as a number of self-funded residencies. Applications for the first round of funded residencies are due November 1 with a $25 application fee, but if you’re interested in funding yourself, applications are open year-round with no fee.
