Oh, but who doesn’t love a parade? Especially the kind that brings a city together, lining streets from downtown to Fair Park with cheering children, for a loud and proud event that celebrates the legacy of a man who truly made a difference. The 32nd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is a boisterous, colorful and joyful journey through the streets of Dallas, soundtracked by brassy marching bands and chock-full of dance squads, flashy parade floats, clowns, the occasional weird political interloper (shout out to those dedicated 9/11 truthers from a few years ago!), horses, vintage cars and more. The procession rolls out of the gates at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla St., and follows a 2.9-mile route leading to the entrance of Fair Park, just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The whole shebang will take about 90 minutes, but there’s nothing wrong with an early arrival so you can pick out a prime spot for the best viewing.
