At 8 p.m. (or 10:30 p.m.) Friday see Hal Sparks perform his stand-up act, Charmageddon, at the Arlington Improv, 309 Curtis Mathes Way, Suite 147. You might remember Hal from the time he spent hosting Talk Soup, or from those five seasons he was on that show Queer As Folk, or from his unforgettable breakthrough performance as Lance in Chopper Chicks in Zombietown (aka Cycle Sluts). From the clips on the interwebs, it looks like his act will include a variety of impressions ranging from female genitalia to male genitalia. Nobody does Angry Predator Vagina like Sparks. Probably get a babysitter, though. Hal looks like a pre-pube 10-year old, but his act will not be appearing on Noggin any time soon. Tickets will set you back $20 apiece. Alice Laussade writes about food, kids, music, and anything else she finds to be completely ridiculous. She created and hosts the Dallas event, Meat Fight, which is a barbecue competition and fundraiser that benefits the National MS Society. Last year, the event raised $100,000 for people living with MS, and 750 people could be seen shoving sausage links into their faces. And one time, she won a James Beard Award for Humor in Writing. That was pretty cool.
