Yeah, yeah, I’m sure Iliza Shlesinger is a very funny gal. She’s won Last Comic Standing and hosts The Weakly News on TheStreamTV and that’s all well and good but that’s not what I want to address here, people. The thing that really interests me about Shlesinger? I know she’s gotta be one really tough cookie under that cute exterior: She’s from Dallas, went to Greenhill School, performed in ComedySportz and worked retail at the Galleria. Yeah, that’s right, she had Dallas schoolmates (tough), dealt with Dallas audiences (rough, if not apathetic) and braved the crazy abusive world behind Dallas mall counters (totally sucks ass). Of course, all of this also means that if she gets bored of LA-inspired material, she can dig deep back to her Big D days and conjure up some serious relatable funny. I’m guessing she’ll at least make a reference or two while headlining the Addison Improv Thursday through Sunday. Admission is $15. Visit improv.com.
