By The Way, Meet Vera Stark is showing at Theatre Three. It’s not a new story, but it’s a captivating one. If you want the Cliff Notes of Cliffs Notes, keep reading. “Hollywood, 1930, movies were glitzy, glamorous and all the rage. Everyone wanted to be a starlet, including Vera Stark.” One teeny tiny inequality snag, Stark is African-American and the only roles open to her are maids and nannies. Stark sets out to steal the show and eventually she succeeds. She achieves marginal success and apparently it comes with a side of bitter because baby, she’s got it! Despite the plot, this play is actually a comedy and there are plenty of moments were you’ll LOL and cringe a little because you’re morally conflicted. By the Way opens Thursday, June 19th at 7:30 p.m. and runs through Sunday. Tickets range form $10–$50 and are available at theatre3dallas.org.
Mon., June 23, 7:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: June 23. Continues through July 13, 2014
