There’s a day that caters to just about everything these days. Talk Like A Pirate Day, National Hugging Day, National Barefoot Day — we could go on and on. So why not dedicate a day to trains? National Train Day invites history enthusiasts to check out train displays including the Dallas Museum of the American Railroad’s 1931 Doodlebug and Union Pacific’s Boy Scouts of America Locomotive. Attendees will also be eligible for Amtrak’s raffle for free tickets on its Texas Eagle Service, admission to Trinity Railway Express’s open house and informative displays from BNSF Railway, DART Light Rail and DCTA. National Train Day will open its tracks from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday at Dallas Union Station, 400 S. Houston St. Admission is free and open to the public. Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?

At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $14,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
