Finally, a festival I don’t have to drive to that’s not the Deep Ellum Arts Fest. Don’t get me wrong, Ellum, I love you, but I’ve chosen Uptown. Without having to head to Addison or Fort Worth, I can head to what sounds like it could be the kind of festival Dallas needs–a one-day celebration of art and living pulled together by The Uptown Dallas Association. Expect the usual live music, art displays, kid fun, pet activities and historic tours. However, culinary delights by yummy area restaurants are probably a much more tantalizing option than the usual tornado taters or roasted corn, but I’ll save my final verdict on that subject for the Fair–hello, chicken-fried bacon (Speaking of the Fair, may I make a suggestion, UDA? Don’t do the coupon as cash thing.) This Saturday, I’ll turn a curious ear to main-stage music surprises as my tummy awaits nosh from Coal Vines, Nick and Sam’s, and for sure, The Fish Restaurant. I think this could forever change the perception of Uptown as the Addison of Dallas (despite the Addison-esque tactic of hosting a self-promoting festival). All About Uptown festival takes place Saturday starting at 11 a.m. and is free to the public. For more information, visit allaboutuptown.com.
