As we’ve previously reported, Halt & Catch Fire is the product of Plano native Chris Cantwell, and it focuses the personal computing boom of the 1980s in tech-rich Dallas. The show filmed a pilot for AMC this year, and even fixed up a the iconic Neon Big Tex sign on their last swing through.
And Deadline just announced that AMC liked what they saw. The cable network picked up the period drama and will send it to series.
The show is produced by Breaking Bad‘s Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein and stars Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) as a budding visionary, Scoot McNairy (Argo) as an engineer, and Mackenzie Davis (Smashed) as a computer prodigy.
Cantwell wrote and pitched the show with his writing partner, Chris Rogers, and the two will co-produce. The pilot was largely shot in Atlanta; no word yet on where future episodes will be shot.
