There’s art and then there’s art. And while I typically skew low-brow, I can’t help but be curious, impressed and several other adjectives with For The Birds, an art show featuring Chaitra Linehan. The press release for the show states that Chaitra has created an effect “that implies the dissociation of concept and the organic imperative and how disenfranchised we have become from the natural order of life.” Like, whoa. That’s some heavy shit. Fortunately for nitwits like me, it’s really cool to look at. While For The Birds shows in the main gallery, Michael Westfried will be featured in the MFA Project Room including his piece titled “Transvesfight.” If that doesn’t win you over, I don’t know what will. For The Birds runs until October 30th. The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday or by appointment. Call 214-942-5241 for an appointment or visit mfagallery.com for images and info.
Saturdays, Sundays. Starts: Sept. 17. Continues through Oct. 30, 2011
