Competition can be a wonderful thing, if properly applied. Bring together bragging rights with a good cause and you’ve got a winning combination. Artist vs. Architect isn’t a typical fundraising auction. A panel of experts in the fields select emerging and known local artists and architects of standout talent, then pits them against each other. All manner of art, furniture and design will go head to head, jostling to be champion. In the end the public votes determine which art reigns supreme, but art aficionados can also square off in silent and live auctions to show who has the most taste, money or compassion. Each year all proceeds from the auction go to a charitable beneficiary, and this year the recipient is Family Compass, an organization dedicated to building healthy families and preventing child abuse. Artist vs. Architect starts at 7 p.m. Thursday at One Arts Plaza, 1722 Routh St. General admission is $75 and VIP is $125. Visit artistvsarchitect.com for tickets and more information.
