Who’s to say what hair cutting, boxing, Mickey Mouse and fire medicine have to do with art and architecture? If anyone can explain the unseen similarities, it would have to be Michael Auping. As Chief Curator of the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (3200 Darnell St.), Auping kicks off the Tuesday Evening Lecture Series this week at the museum. He’ll be discussing his most recent book, 30 Years: Interviews and Outtakes, which features interviews with artists such as Bill Viola, Jenny Holzer and Anselm Kiefer, as well as Tadao Ando, architect of The Modern. There will be a reception and book signing at 6 p.m. Tuesday with the lecture following at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public, but capacity is limited to the first 250 people. Call 817-738-9215 or visit themodern.org.
Tue., Sept. 11, 7 p.m.
