The heart of Dallas crossed the river over the past couple of years as Oak Cliff has been revitalized, and the Bishop Arts District’s First Thursday block party takes its job as welcome wagon seriously. On the first Thursday of every month, the shops, galleries and restaurants of Bishop Arts stay open until 10 p.m. to entertain everyone before the weekend kicks off, with special features every month. This month, check out the gallery opening at Charley Mitcherson’s studio (405 North Bishop Avenue) for local photographer Charley Mitcherson and local painter Dudley Sanders. The exhibit opens Thursday night at 7 p.m. and will be on display Fridays and Saturdays through September. Admission is free. Call 214-941-4391 or visit bishopartsdistrict.com.
