At some moment in childhood I pitched over the line of wanting dolls and guns and games for Christmas to being thrilled by unwrapping a book. Mark Twain, O. Henry, Nancy Drew. OK, I was a weird kid. But I give books at Christmas now because, well, how many sweaters do most of us need? Give adventure this year by shopping the Casa View Library Friends book sale. You’ll find donated new and used fiction and nonfiction, children’s books, videos and CDs for 25 cents to $1, with a few exceptions. All sales benefit the library. Admission is free; hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, December 1 and 2 and December 8 and 9. The Casa View Branch Library is located at 10355 Ferguson Road. Call 214-670-8403.
