Upon arrival at the Kessler last year for the inaugural Blues, Bandits & BBQ shindig, there was little doubt it would become an annual event. Sure enough, it’s back, this time at Lake Cliff Park (1200 N. Zang Blvd.). Enter the barbecue competition ($100 entry fee per team) to compete in categories including beef brisket, pork ribs, whole chicken, sausage and pulled pork. Or participate in the People’s Choice Tasting from 2 to 4 p.m. by purchasing one of a limited number of wristbands available for $15 each. Not interested in competing or judging? Kick back and listen to local musicians while feasting on food and drinks from area eateries (cash only). Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 day-of; kids under 12 are free. Ride your bikes to receive 2-for-1 admission. The event runs from noon until 6. Visit gooakcliff.org for more information.
