Despite the gradual easing of regulations over the last decade, comedians working in broadcast television still perform under constant threat of fines and sanctions for uttering certain words deemed too unsavory for airplay. With the exception of the occasional TBN ventriloquist, these restrictions have forced TV comics to stash much of their edgier material away under some grimy comedy mattress until given a venue free from the oppression of standards and practices. If his past stand-up gigs are any indication (rough calculations put him at about 1.6 F-Bombs per minute) fans of acclaimed Late Show host Craig Ferguson can expect a continuous barrage of good-natured vulgarity when he brings his act to SMU’s McFarlin Auditorium (6405 Boaz Lane) at 8 p.m. Saturday, an uncensored performance that may very well eclipse Carl Sagan’s now legendary freak-out as the filthiest thing to ever grace the stage of the historic Dallas venue. Tickets start at $45. Visit ticketmaster.com.
