Some New Year’s Day football is just what you need to prevent, assuage or postpone your hangover, depending on how you party the night before. The Heart of Dallas Bowl pits the 8-4 UNT Eagles against the 7-5 UNLV Rebels at 11 a.m. at the Cotton Bowl, 3750 Midway Plaza in Fair Park. The early-but-not-too-early kickoff can give you a reason to take it easy the night before so you can get to your seat by game time. If you do end up with a katzenjammer, there is something soothing about watching gridiron action while eating greasy food, sipping a little hair of the dog and knowing that you might witness at least one concussion-worthy hit — so you wouldn’t be the only one in the stadium with a ringing headache. And if you’re still going strong when the sun comes up, why not go for it and try not to pass out till the game’s over? Tickets ($50 to $125), parking ($20) and more information are at theheartofdallas.org.
