Friday night the Texas Theatre hosts the official premiere of Bryan Poyser’s film Lovers of Hate, a tale of two brothers that seems packed with drama, resentment, tension and sibling rivalry. Adult brothers Rudy and Paul recreate the torturous feelings that arise within a family when siblings see differing levels of failure and success. Younger brother Paul is a successful author who pens fantasy novels for kids. Older brother Rudy is an aspiring writer. Making things worse, Rudy was Paul’s original childhood collaborator on the fantasy stories. Oh, and they both love Diana–who leaves Rudy only to fall into Paul’s waiting arms. The film–produced by Texas Theatre partner Adam Donaghey–is a Spirit Award nominee, and has already garnered some positive buzz. Tonight, writer/director/editor Poyser will attend and participate in a Q and A session (also showing after the premiere at 9 p.m. is Poyser’s debut feature, Dear Pillow). Lovers of Hate screens through Wednesday at the Texas Theatre, 231 West Jefferson Blvd. Tickets are $8. Call 214-942-4905 or visit thetexastheatre.com.
