If you think Charlie Murphy is just a bit character from Chappelle’s Show, or merely the older brother of cinematic superstar Eddie Murphy, you are severely mistaken. When he is not on television, or making appearances on the silver screen, he is killing audiences with his standup routine. The actor, comedian and writer has turned a career of comedy writing into one consistent run of headline performances for sold-out crowds. His hilarious biographical accounts separate his comedic style from his contemporaries, and make him one of the few comics who successfully combines gut-busting anecdotes with an arsenal of impressions. Check out his classically modern style of comedy all weekend at the Addison Improv (4980 Beltline Road). Tickets for Saturday night’s 7 p.m. show cost $30. Call 972-404-8501, or visit improv.com.
