When it comes to glorifying man-made means of transportation and feats of technology, the entire country of the United States of America serves as a pretty powerful altar to all that is great and good about human ingenuity. We celebrate our vast intellectual superiority by driving gas-guzzling Hummers at 90 mph down Central Expressway; we bask in our gadget aptitude by talking loudly about that weird mole on our Bluetooth while others are trying to enjoy their Awesome Blossoms. Yeah, we are badass. But what of the simpler times gone by? When the short-wave radio was the equivalent of the iPhone? When having a bicycle was like having a Prius? Artist Ben Hancock understands, and his solo exhibition–Cycles–at the Meridian Room, 3611 Parry Ave., gets nostalgic for days of the two-wheeled vehicle.
